Bamboo is notable for its strength, hardness, and growth rate. Recognized for its durability and versatility, it is an environmentally friendly, rapidly renewable resource, and is capturing interest world wide. It can be easily harvested and replenished with no impact on the environment: a Bamboo pole takes about 5 years to mature, after this time if not harvested dies and a new pole will regenerate from the culm, or original plant. One culm can produce up to 200 poles in its life cycle.
The Bamboo Fusion patent production method is unique in that the poles are split, then shredded into individual strands. The strands are then placed into a chamber, adding heat and a water bourne adhesive, with 2,500 tons of pressure. After the curing process, the block or what resembles a railroad tie is sliced into flooring. The variety of natural colors are achieved through carbonization, a process of heat and steam treating the Bamboo. This method caramelizes the natural sugars in the strands, creating a richer, darker tone. As a result, choosing Bamboo Fusion results in one of the hardest, most environmentally friendly, exotic floors available today.
